Karin (Hoi Ting) Wu is currently pursuing a Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources (MIRHR) at the University of Toronto, where she also completed her undergraduate degree with a double major in Industrial Relations and Human Resources (IRHR) and Book and Media Studies (BMS), and a minor in Digital Humanities (DH).
Her research interests lie at the intersection of migration, culture, and work, with a particular focus on identity formation, cross-cultural adaptation, and organizational socialization. Her previous independent research examined how Facebook shapes identity formation among Hong Kong emigrants in North America, exploring the role of digital platforms in maintaining cultural identity and connections across borders. More recently, her research has focused on the organizational socialization of early-career employees in hybrid work environments, particularly how workplace arrangements influence newcomer adjustment and integration.
Drawing on her interdisciplinary academic background, Karin has experience in survey research, content analysis, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
