Young Choi is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Arizona, where she is also affiliated with the Arizona Center on Aging. Her research examines population health and health disparities, with a focus on race, ethnicity, immigrant identity, and family processes across the life course. She draws on large nationally representative datasets such as the Health and Retirement Study, the National Health Interview Survey, Add Health, and the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging — and applies demographic and quantitative methods to study how structural and relational factors shape mental and physical health, aging, and mortality. Her current projects explore interracial and inter-nativity unions, immigrant integration and health, aging processes, intergenerational immigrant health, and health disparities among diverse populations.
